back to top Military; Warriors in Transition

THE FOTO GROUP and its’ consultants became aware of the RAND testimony presented before the House Committee of Veterans’ Affairs on June 11, 2008. The report provided important insights into the uniqueness and estimated human and financial costs and consequences to service members of Operations Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operations - 1 -Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Concurrent to the report, our professional colleagues and national professional associations were speaking to our professional commitment to promote our awareness and role in the medical recovery of wounded warriors (Baum 2008). Several of our own peers were professionally and personally challenged to face the stories of returning warriors and family members. Hours of discussion, networking, and interviewing led us to begin development on a web portal , Wellness Works 2.0 (www.thefotogroup.com) , that could provide the advanced telemedicine technology, the medical personnel, enhanced treatment and education interventions as well as the comprehensive support needed to begin to care for our warriors coming home with PTSD and mTBI. Wellness Works 2.0 is a web portal with intelligent, web based software applications that will deliver tele-therapy, tele-education, and tele-health in mental health for warriors and their families with an enhanced intelligent mobile support network. We are looking for additional funding to complete our web portal and software application to begin a pilot program for service members and/or can provide expert consultation towards any web portal initiative

back to top Aging in Place

As the baby boomers shift into older age, and health care expeditures continue to increase, the need for life and health management becomes the centerfold for telemedicine technologies. Aging in place is a term defining the consumer’s choice to more often stay in the home or community in which they have developed their social network of family and friends. It also means that servicing these folks will require providing health care delivery systems at the point of service; their home or community clinic or physician. Here are some important facts:
  • Lifespan has increased to 76
  • 40 million people over age 65 by 2010
  • 8.6 million people have difficulty with one or more ADLS (activities of daily living)
  • 4.1 million need personal assistance
The Foto Group recognizes the need to provide various types of services to this growing population throughout the world. Telemedicine/telehealth or telerehab is a cost effective, efficient mechanism in which to meet the demand. Wellness Works technologies and programming can provide the advanced telemedicine application and the health care and wellness professionals needed to care for the remote or “aging in place” individual(s).
